Yuri Temirkanov - conductor
While they obviously do not match the sound of the Leningrad Philharmonic, the VFO, which is essentially a student orchestra, give an extremely credible performance of a complex, difficult symphony. This is a testament to the skill of Maestro Temirkanov! Thanks for posting this.
Also, watching Temirkanov conduct using that marvelous Russian physical technique (no baton) can be as interesting as listening to him conduct!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for this! I just heard the SPPO and temirkanov palying it in concert, yesterday in Athens, and they were absolutely elecrtyfing and awsome. And with Nelson Freire playing a superb Brahms 2nd, the whole concert was totaly unforgettable!
