Alexander Slobodyanik (5. IX 1941 - 11. VIII 2008)
Alexander Slobodyanik was born in 1941. His musical training began in Lvov. Already at 14 he gave his first recital at the Lvov Phil-harmonia. He continued his musical education at the Moscow Conservatoire where he studied under Professors Heinrich Neuhaus and Vera Gornostaeva.
Slobodyanik's concert activity began in 1960 and now he has the reputation of one of the most original, distinctive and brilliant pianists. His repertoire contains a number of marvellous pieces sparkling with virtuosity. His playing is permeated with his inner nobility. "A beautiful artistic nature" one of the critics justly wrote of Alexander Slobodyanik. He is a born lyric. Any works of his programme including most effective, ambitious and exacting pieces arc performed with no self-admiration whatsoever. He lacks it even at those moments when his playing really calls for admiration, when he is in good form and everything turns out brilliantly.
Today Slobodyanik is in his prime. He develops a versatile activity in this country and abroad. He successfully toured the USA, (Jreat Britain, West Germany and other countries.
