Yuri Temirkanov et ses musiciens saint-pétersbourgeois embrasseront dans un même geste, pour ce dernier concert, tout un pan de l’Histoire de la musique européenne du XIXe siècle. Au feu d’artifice de l’Ouverture du Barbier de Séville de Rossini (1816) succédera le Premier Concerto pour piano de Brahms (1859) interprété par Denis Matsuev, dont la dense sonorité pénètrera le tréfonds de l’âme romantique allemande. Les Variations Enigma (1899) du compositeur britannique Edward Elgar, suite de quatorze tableaux colorés et mystérieux, couronneront en majesté la cinquième édition d’Annecy Classic Festival.
