Evgeny Svetlanov - Gershwin - Porgy & Bess, American In Paris (16.01.1980 - Live - Moscow) LP, MP3 (REUPLOAD)
Fun LP! Funky performances, but VERY expressive! Enjoyed...
Do you happen to have the out of print Elgar Symphony No. 2 recorded by Svetlanov? As in the Gershwin, the conductor is a little bit out of his element, but is always interesting & powerful!
Thanks so much for checking. I really do appreciate your fine work as such conductors as Anosov, Eliasberg, and Gauk are not well known here in the United States except perhaps to the very oldest LP collectors. I had no hint that Svetlanov had EVER done a record of Gershwin; it is a bit like his Elgar Second in being slightly unidiomatic and different from native interpreters from the exact same culture--but it's still very good, very professional, and worth experiencing!
Do you have by any chance the Arvid Jansons Melodiya LP era recording (stereo, at least) of the Tchaikovsky First Suite for Orchestra?

DeleteI just looked at the links for Elgar and all the Svetlanov links but did not see the Elgar Second. Did I miss it?
DeleteThanks.
