Before fully taking up the reins in Dresden, Christian Thielemann will fulfil a long-cherished dream when at these concerts he conducts Johann Sebastian Bach’s »Christmas Oratorio« for the first time. The sacred Baroque architecture of the Frauenkirche will certainly provide the illustrious soloists and the Chamber Choir of the Frauenkirche with the ideal backdrop, and indeed it is in this very church that Leipzig’s most famous music director – and Dresden’s »court composer« – is known to have performed at the organ.
