Jaap van Zweden conducts Bartók
Chicago SO
Bartók’s wide-ranging showcase for different sections of the orchestra has long been a CSO favorite, and it’s the foundation of this concert. French pianist David Fray gives an insightful performance of Mozart’s dark piano concerto, with a work by CSO composer-in-residence Mason Bates starting off the concert. As a bonus, we reach back a few years for more Mozart, this time a feature of the CSO’s principal bassoon, David McGill, from 2011.
