Christoph Eschenbach conducts Bruckner 9, Beethoven and Bernard Rands

Exuding authority, Christoph Eschenbach conducts a brooding and overpowering performance of Bruckner’s final symphony. This closed a memorable concert featuring Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, as well as a work by Chicago-based composer Bernard Rands, based on the work of Samuel Beckett. Rounding out the program is a reprisal of Sir Mark Elder’s reading of a work by Tchaikovsky.
