    Once again you are kind enough to share with us yet another wonderful Soviet-era Russia violinist that I was unfamiliar with! So much music! I must say I especially love the Bach duet with Vaiman and Gutnikov. Superb tone and expression.

    My other favorites here include the Beethoven disc, not only for Vaiman's playing, but Maria Karandashova...WHO IS SHE?? She certainly adds a lot of color to the Beethoven Op. 30! The tempii are often eccentric and fascinating as piano and violin share the spotlight here. Would love to hear more of her.

    Thanks so much for all there marvelous recordings!

      КАРАНДАШОВА МАРИЯ ВСЕВОЛОДОВНА Родилась в 1918 г.
      в Одессе. В 1930 г. переехала в Ленинград. Окончила Ленинградскую консерваторию
      в 1941г. по специальности "фортепиано". Пережила блокаду Ленинграда с начала
      и до конца - служила в войсках ПВО. Имеет ряд правительственных наград,
      в т.ч. боевых. Пианист-аккомпаниатор, играла со многими выдающимися музыкантами
      - М.Вайманом, Р.Ростроповичем и т.д. Более 40 лет преподавала в Ленинградской
      консерватории на кафедре камерного ансамбля. Ее ученики есть во всем мире
      - от ЮАР до Австралии. Выйдя на пенсию, уехала к дочери, зятю и внуку в
      Москву. Скончалась в 1996г. в Москве.

      KARANDASHOVA MARIA Vsevolodovna Born in 1918
      in Odessa. In 1930 he moved to Leningrad. She graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory
      in 1941. specialty "piano." Survived the siege of Leningrad from the beginning
      to finish - served in the Army Air Defence. He has a number of government awards,
      including combat. The pianist-accompanist, played with many outstanding musicians
      - M.Vaiman, M.Rostropovich, etc. Over 40 years teaching at the Leningrad
      Conservatory faculty chamber ensemble. Her students are all over the world
      - From South Africa to Australia. After retirement, went to his daughter, son in law and grandson in
      Moscow. She died in 1996. in Moscow.

    Oh, my dear Panovnik! What a violinist! what a musician! I wonder if you could fix the Cue sheet for the first volume? I can't seem to make it work....
    And yes, AGREE with Duddy Kravitz, the Beethoven CD is amazing.... glorious phrasing and a completely different concept for playing these enormous sonatas! When I read Duddy's comment I immediately went to the Maria link below but was very disappointed with the bad piano she had to deal with. Difficult to appreciate the work. In the LvB they have these great diminuendo/crescendo effects and they play unique versions, belonging only to them. And GLORIOUS. WHERE IS THERE MORE of Maria???

      dear Dance de Puck, unfortunately you haven't heard Vaiman as a chamber musician.

      his participation in recording of Shostakovich Piano Trio No.2 along with Pavel Serebriakov & Mstislav Rostropovich leaves far beyond every other ensemble, even with Shostakovich playing himself.

      it was released on Melodiya vinyl (Leningrad pressings only) coupled with Tischenko Cello concerto (Igor Blazhkov conducting).

    как жаль, что в этот короб не вошла запись
    Фортепианного трио No.2 Шостаковича, сделанная скрипачом с Павлом Серебряковым и Мстиславом Ростроповичем. это исполнение превосходит все, что слышал от любого другого ансамбля, даже с участием Шостаковичема (Прага, 1949, скрипка- Давид Ойстрах, виолончель - Милош Садло)
    диск был выпущен на виниле фирмы Мелодия (тиражировал только Ленинградский завод) с довеском Концерта для виолончели Тищенко (дирижер - Игорь Блажков, органный аккомпанемент - супруга композитора).
